Look what you made me do!
In three decades of employment in human services, in a variety of positions, I found the above quote to be a signature line of cowardly, violent offenders. It was common among those spouses, partners, and parents, who sought to convince their victims that they the victims were entirely responsible for the offender's violence and cruelty. I think of that every time I hear Trump say that the Democrats are responsible for his separating children from their parents.
I also had numerous violent offenders say, Yeah, but what about
..., in weak attempts to shift the focus of our conversations. My response was simple: We are not here to talk about what anyone else did or didn't do. We are only here to talk about you, and what we know you did. That's the same thing that I would say to my children when they were young, and we discussed some misbehavior on their part. It's sad to see adults today using, or falling for, this type attempted distraction.
There was one fellow who attempted to justify his vile actions by self-righteously quoting bible verses. I did not need much time to evaluate this guy before making my recommendation to the court. I did, however, tell him that I hoped that he would consider reading the gospels while he was incarcerated. I have the same hope for Jeff Sessions.
The Trump administration's policy is the very definition of domestic abuse. It is unacceptable. It can not be blamed on the victims, or other people's previous actions. And it cannot be justified by bible quotes.

blaming everyone else for everything.
claiming to be the best at everything.
claiming to be the only one who can do anything right.
never apologizing for anything.
flipping out when he doesn't get whatever he wants.
flipping out over any sign of disrespect or disloyalty or "disobedience".
wanting to be as cruel as possible to anyone he objects to and taking glee in it.
all of this screams abusive husband, abusive father, abusive boss.
why on earth would anyone want this in a president??
the nation, sans his fellow abusers, is being abused every day by someone who cannot be anything other than mentally ill. I predict, going the way he is, that within the next year, his so-called frustration and anger will reach such a peak that he will have a complete meltdown and will have to be helped away.
I'm hoping this recent example of obscene cruelty motivates people to get out and vote in November .....and to work hard between now and then, to organize others to register and vote.
It was reported on the news this morning that, in private, Trump believes this makes him "look tough." I think it exposes him as a weak, cowardly punk.

He lacks the moral-ethical capacity to admit when he is wrong. Instead, he looks to attack someone he is convinced cannot fight back.

(49,526 posts)And seems to be lashing out indiscriminately. He is attacking people who can and will fight back, much more effectively than he does.

(93,446 posts)Once the sheer over the top vulgarity of his escalator-announcement sank in, his other behaviors became clearer and he just gave me the creeps. He gives off a terrible vibe -- the dangerous bully, the man who hits women.
And it's just gotten worse since then.

As long as he is in office, it can only get worse. The mid-terms offer an opportunity to decrease the pace, should Trump remain as president. But unless he is impeached, it will still continue to get worse.

(49,526 posts)and what I knew of Trump was just an occasional bizarre news clip about a man who was more of a caricature than a real person. I had a hard time understanding why such an oddity was even considered "news". There was a time not that long ago, that I couldn't imagine Trump running for higher office and certainly not winning.
I'm running out of adjectives for the man. None come close to describing the horror that is Donald Trump.

(74,741 posts)of Trump were from the 1980s, when he pimped for mob figures in promoting boxing. I thought he was a greedy asshole then. My opinion has not changed in any positive way, except that I see him as posing a severe risk to our country.

(49,526 posts)him as being a tabloid personality and as I didn't read tabloids, I knew little about him, until the past ten to fifteen years. To me he was like a character out of a B movie. I still can't believe he sold himself to so many people. It was no secret what kind of a person he was and still is.

That's what Trump said, more or less. He'll continuing abusing these children, unless the Democrats do what he says. If they don't, then it's THEIR fault that he's abusing children.

(391 posts).... harden around the reThug's feet. But, the Democrats MUST start fighting for every available
state house, senate seat and governorship, every city council and school board seat. Any and every elective office
until well and sane people take back our Country.
Skeletons in my closet have caused me not to run for any office. But if the shameless, the disgusting, and convicted felons
on the ballots with "R" after their names can run and win, hell, I might be perfect for the job.
