(10,164 posts)Nothing we've seen so far indicates any political motive for the Aurora shootings. I suspect that this case, however, will prove otherwise. My gut feeling is that some ignoramus figured "dark skinned people + turbans = Muslim terris!!"

(26,602 posts)the 'T' word. It's a much stronger possibility in WI, however...

(24,223 posts)some have political motives.
Others motives can be more narcissistic and sociopathic but they are terrorists none the less.

There may be other non-western enemies as well. I'm going to wait and hear what the propagandists say.

Wonder if that makes any difference? Also let's see M$M say it or how long it takes them to acknowledge it.

(28,789 posts)for hours and had actually just finished bitching to my son that if this wasn't terrorism what is...then the police chief came on and said that and it made me feel much better.
on one of the two channels i've been watching they offered up a statement from the white house delivered by Obama's counterterrorism adviser. one of the talking heads said i don't know what to say about who delivered that statement. that's when i got pissed.
i also got upset because they kept talking about how this happened in a house of worship and you just don't expect that. do you expect it at the movies? at school? at your hairdresser's? at your grandma's nursing home? all scenes of mass shootings in recent US history. where should we expect it?
they wouldn't touch the subject of whether the gunman had the Sikh temple confused with a mosque with a ten foot pole, which i have to admit is fair enough. dollars to donuts that's what happened though. ignorant, rabid hate. thank you glenn beck, rush limbaugh, michele bachmann, etc.

(28,789 posts)that the live stream team had it wrong: they reported that the news was relayed to the president by Brennan and that a "senior official" gave his response. i don't know, but i am relieved that at least for this incident the people investigating are calling it what it is.

This is from an atheist. I may not agree with religion. I'm not shy about that fact. However, I will defend anyone's right to practice their religion in this country, just as much as I defend my right to speak out against beliefs I disagree with. That's what freedom of religion actually means.
