They are freshwater, small and irregular. I wear them when I get "dressed up". They make good worry beads and at my cousin's wedding this year, his young nephew played with them as a distraction during the ceremony.

Pearls are not the problem. That is a great saying for people overreacting but the pearls are not the issue.
