This was how the NYT started their article:
But Ms. Anders, 46, a Republican from suburban Loudoun County, Va., with a law degree, a business career, and not a stitch of Make America Great Again gear in her wardrobe, is moved to defend him anyway.
All nuance and all complexity and these are complex issues are completely lost, she said, describing overblown reactions from the presidents critics, some of whom equated the Trump administrations policy of separating migrant children and parents to historys greatest atrocities.
It makes me angry at them, which causes me to want to defend him to them more, Ms. Anders said.
-snip-
Makes her sound a bit like a moderate Republican, doesn't it? Someone who's simply driven to defend Trump because his critics are so unfair to him.
The truth, which the NYT neglected to dig up, is that she's a former Ron Paul supporter and activist who's now a board member of the ultra-conservative West Virginia Liberty PAC, which among other RWNJ causes defends Confederate monuments.

People have been pointing this out to the NYT's Jeremy Peters on Twitter.
He's been responding by blocking at least some of them, including Brian Beutler:

gratuitous
(82,849 posts)Peters' safari to the hinterlands to find a typical Trump voter just happens to turn up Gina Anders, quoting her extensively, and providing all kinds of details on her life and work, but leaving out these salient details. Did Peters know this and intentionally leave out Anders' public record of activism? Or doesn't he know how to use the Google? Where was Peters' editor on this?

(82,849 posts)Peters winds up blocking Beutler on twitter after a very brief exchange. But everyone else on twitter seems to get it. Peters does not come off well at all.

(13,616 posts)The NYT was experiencing more subscriptions and strength because it WAS the LIBERAL paper, but for some reason, they felll like they have to coddle the right, why? Only the GOP can act like they are being pragmatic when their ideas fail even pragmatism.

(4,066 posts)I have serious issues with anyone who still admires the Confederacy. The people who took up arms against this nation because they wanted to continue owning other humans.
They were, and still are, all traitors.
