She could have phrased it differently to elicit more constructive engagement. For example with the legislators I would shame them into saying the people needs to ask them questions when they are out in public since they sure are not making themselves available at town halls. Also I think shouting and holding signs only feeds the beast. Take a camera and start asking questions and stating why you think they are not doing their jobs.
