(31,261 posts)When you chose post a discussion, a poll is one of the choices that you have. You may do two polls, the first on age, the second on race. A suggestion, limit the poll categories, for the question you asked on age try. Younger than 20, 20-30, 31-50, 51-65, Over 65.

But where we agree would be very interesting.

(10,501 posts)My dad's family were also Dodgers fans, but they were all from Brooklyn, so that is to be expected.
New Haven is the final stop on the Metro North railroad. It is reasonably deep into the state and I think it is safe to assume that there are some Red Sox/Celtics/Patriots/Bruins fans there. It's not like being in Greenwich or Stanford.
I'm not sure what prompted me to ask about the Red Sox, as opposed to the Yankees and Mets. I wasn't really focused on that part, I was just curious about whether she was raised a Rangers fan and remained one after relocation.
Of course, she says that she is retired. So maybe she is 66 and was born in 1952. That would mean that she was 19 by the time the Washington Senators relocated to Arlington, TX.
I guess that question didn't really make much sense to begin with, LOL. I was just in the mood to post it.

A HERETIC I AM
(24,388 posts)The regular DU user skews older - fifty plus, mostly white and middle class. There are some that struggle, but most are comfortable in their day-to-day living.
The regular user ranges from numerous post-graduate degrees (lots of doctors, attorneys, other professionals) to working class like me (truck driver) and a smaller group of under and unemployed. Everything from Farmers to Pharmacists, Hedge Fund traders to Hedge Clippers. There are ex-pat Americans living abroad, to English speakers in numerous countries around the globe. Members from all 50 states and Canada as well as protectorates and provinces.
The regular participants of this website are by and large white, middle class, middle aged and older, doing OK but could be doing better, born before there were 50 states and remember when our government was run by grownups.
In short, a decent cross section of American liberalism.
How do I know this?
I've been a member here for almost 15 fucking years and have seen dozens of polls on this subject through that time.

A HERETIC I AM
(24,388 posts)But I would tend to agree. Most people go through hard times. It's part of being human. Most people keep their own bad news to themselves.
I had a seriously hard stretch from late '09 though 2011 (unemployed for months and months, nearly homeless, etc.), but it was MY personal affair and I didn't feel compelled to share it on DU.

'cause there's a fire inside won't be denied
And I'm still burning
See you'll never put the spark out in my soul
Still burning
And injustice builds a bonfire in my core

There are still a good number of misogynists and racists. They just won't admit it and go to JPR.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
