and I'm thinking, that has to fucking hurt!

I have no doubt that the fellow in the .gif I posted is an excellent diver. You don't get to the Olympics if you can't dive at the highest level.

But still.....it's funny. I'm betting he laughed at himself later on.

Of course, hitting the board or platform is bad form, no doubt.
