Missouri Voters Approve 'Right to Pray' Amendment 2

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Missouri voters have approved a state constitutional amendment that guarantees the right to pray in a public place.

State Representative Mike McGhee sponsored the amendment in the state legislature.

"That it is okay for people to have prayer in public as long as they don't disturb other people around them," he said.

State Representative Jeannette Mott Oxford opposed the amendment, saying it's already covered by the first amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

"Our religious freedom is so precious, it's settled for all time. It doesn't need to go to a vote. If we put it on a ballot, that cheapens the Bill of Rights."

Polling showed the proposed state amendment drawing more than 80 percent support.

Christians only seem to read the parts of the Bible that talk about hate and killing people.

Yet they always tend to ignore other parts, like this:Matthew 6:5, 6

And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

would only remind you to listen again to South Pacific:

"You've got to be taught
To hate and fear,
You've got to be taught
From year to year,
It's got to be drummed
In your dear little ear
You've got to be carefully taught.

You've got to be taught to be afraid
Of people whose eyes are oddly made,
And people whose skin is a diff'rent shade,
You've got to be carefully taught.

You've got to be taught before it's too late,
Before you are six or seven or eight,
To hate all the people your relatives hate,
You've got to be carefully taught!"

The idiots forgot to include language that says an educator is barred from FAILING that student for lack of participation. Missouri has grown on me since I moved here as a kid, but really, there are days when I wish I lived somewhere else....

It will be just like the morons in Louisiana who are enraged that their own laws allowing charter schools also means Muslims can open them.
