If your contract is soon to run out with cell phone provider, Won't they be

1. In my experience my phone will crap out about the same time the contract expires

And so they know I'll be coming in, probably to buy a new phone, and there they will get me with the much reduced price on the phone in exchange for a contract for the over priced service required to actually pay for the phone.

2. I refuse to sign a cell phon contract. Instead

when I want a cell phone I buy an inexpensive one and by $20 200 minute cards. It sure keeps the cost down.

4. They just keep your contract going ...

.... at least that's what mine does. I've run out of contract many times since I only get a new phone every 4-5 years. They just keep the service going. When I go in to get a new phone they do the 2 year thing again. Doesn't mean much to me, as I've had the same AT&T account since I first got a cell phone 15+ years ago.
