Romney is 5 steps ahead of the rest of us

romney played this brilliantly. he was just waiting, biding his time till someone said something stupid like reid just did. paid no taxes HAH!! as if. so now romney puts out all his taxes and BAM!!!!! romneys name is cleared and reid looks so silly he might have to step down as majority leader!

its 4d chess and romneys been controlling the board from the start. now its time for him to close the deal and put out his returns and ride this baby all the way to the white house.

go get em romney!!

hmmm how do you add the SARCASM thing (its not obvious?) people took me seriously last time 8-(

if he put out 10 years and paid taxes every year. reid really would look bad. which is why i believe him too. why would he stick his neck out that far if he knew romney could chop it off at anytime.

Reid is saying he was told by a well placed Bain investor. All he's doing is asking if it's true. If it's false, ok, the well placed Bain investor lied to him. Probably after being prompted by the Romney camp. See? Win-win....

its just a 'distraction' at the romney camp and that it will go away soon.

this is a major weakness, obama is pounding him on it and it would be stupid to stop. ride it all the way till nov.

9. Romney didn't release his tax returns when he ran for Governor of Massachusetts, so

I don't expect him to release them now.

He knows what's in those tax returns and he knows it's poison to his Presidential ambitions. He's gambling that he can get away with not releasing his tax returns, just like he did when he ran for governor of MA. As Rachel Maddow pointed out, Romney has a "tell". He deflects attention from not releasing his tax returns onto his opponent. When he ran for governor his Democratic opponent released her tax returns but Romney complained that her husband had not, so what is she hiding. Today he's doing something similar. He's trying to deflect attention onto Harry Reid and his source and take a sideswipe at the Obama campaign. Romney wants Reid to reveal his source without Romney having to release his tax returns. That's Romney's end game with this situation. But Romney's problem right now, is that Harry Reid has nothing to lose, and the Senate Majority Leader has enough stature to keep drawing the media's attention. Reid is not up for reelection and he knows how to play bare knuckle politics. Reid, not Romney, is in control of this dialogue and Reid is winning. The Media has started investigating how Romney could have used the tax law to not pay taxes, thus exposing to the public at large how the 0.01%, like Romney, rig the tax game in their favor over the middle class and working poor.

All Romney can do right now is hope his VP pick and the upcoming RNC Convention shift the campaign narrative away from his taxes, but the Obama campaign and Harry Reid won't let it go because it ties into Romney's economic proposal, which raises taxes on the middle class and working poor.

Romney's plan for the middle class: Get used to being poor

And, that part's for real, even if the rest is just political theater.
