and noticed he had "wild cherry pepsi" in the cart. That drink has caffeine in it. Aren't Mormons forbidden to consume caffeine? What's up with that?

But it comes from a directive not to drink hot drinks such as coffee and tea. Modern Mormons take it now to be talking about caffeine, but ultimately the official stance of the church is, "We don't really care; give us more money."

I twisted balloons at a Mormon Church that was having a Halloween party, and the minister asked me if I needed anything to drink, and I auto-replied, "Anything caffeinated and cold is fine." Then we just looked at each other, and we both started laughing, and I said, "Punch will be fine."
