What exactly is your point?

You realize Blackburn is Republican and Emily’s list only supports pro choice Democratic women right?

Your comments are pretty puzzling.

But let me try again.

The OP said we need more women in Congress. My reaction was that I would qualify that statement, because we don’t need more Marsha Blackburn types. We DO need progressive (or Democratic) women.

I’m well aware of Emily’s List. The part I was reacting to was the broad statement re: needing more women. EL also qualifies their support—candidates must be pro choice, not just female.

Personally, I would call all of Emily’s Lists endorsements for progressive candidates. And they are ushering in a record number of women.

The puzzlement is why you chose to add a bit of redundancy at a time when so many are being divisive about who is considered “progressive”. Throwing Marsha Blackburn in there sure seemed like unnecessary snark.

That’s why I asked for clarification.

"We DO need progressive (or Democratic) women..."

But maybe it's far more nuanced and subtle than I thought, and additional requires post-hoc qualifiers.

Emily's list

She is checking it twice
Gonna find those protecting our rights

Emily is coming to town
Emily is coming to town
Emily is coming to town

Women are campaigning
Women winning this round
We know when you have been bad or good
We have seen just who you are

Women are coming to town
Women are coming to town
Women are coming to town

You think we have been sleeping
You're sure we're unaware
You better watch out, you better not cry
You better not pout, I'm telling you why

Women are here to stay
Time to get out of our way
We Women are here to stay

our first black male president and followed that with our first woman president. Given women's extreme underrepresentation in government, the time for a woman's wave was obviously coming, but I'm also guessing it would have been significantly smaller, more spread out.

What a great list of candidacies. And other, smaller organizations also ran women.
