(5,803 posts)What exactly is your point?
You realize Blackburn is Republican and Emilys list only supports pro choice Democratic women right?
Your comments are pretty puzzling.

(34,498 posts)But let me try again.
The OP said we need more women in Congress. My reaction was that I would qualify that statement, because we dont need more Marsha Blackburn types. We DO need progressive (or Democratic) women.
Im well aware of Emilys List. The part I was reacting to was the broad statement re: needing more women. EL also qualifies their supportcandidates must be pro choice, not just female.

(5,803 posts)Personally, I would call all of Emilys Lists endorsements for progressive candidates. And they are ushering in a record number of women.
The puzzlement is why you chose to add a bit of redundancy at a time when so many are being divisive about who is considered progressive. Throwing Marsha Blackburn in there sure seemed like unnecessary snark.
Thats why I asked for clarification.

But maybe it's far more nuanced and subtle than I thought, and additional requires post-hoc qualifiers.

(58,785 posts)our first black male president and followed that with our first woman president. Given women's extreme underrepresentation in government, the time for a woman's wave was obviously coming, but I'm also guessing it would have been significantly smaller, more spread out.
What a great list of candidacies. And other, smaller organizations also ran women.

(30,481 posts)I think I could make a solid argument that it should be 90% women for the next one hundred years.

(62,277 posts)...as a percentage of the population you'd ideally want that same percentage in congress, same with other minority groups.
