I want my flag back.

I just took my American flag out of mothballs and put it back on its perch at my front door. Republicans like to take things, like flags, and call them their own. They don't understand that it belongs to all of us. I'm tired of this idiocy. As a proud liberal Democrat, I'm flying my flag. It's mine, too.

We have flown our American flag on our porch since we have been homeowners.

Nearly 40 years.

when we opened our concentration camp in Cuba and vowed I wouldn't fly it again until we closed it. I thought for a minute that Obama would make me able to put it back out, but that fantasy was short-lived. The camp is still open and now the flag seems to be a wholly-owned subsidiary of the military, which I don't like either. Plus, in my purple part of the country it is clearly a sign of the right, second only to Don't Tread On Me and a MAGA hat. I get your point, but I just can't.

I DO get your point and think you are correct. I used to fly the flag as a sign of our Constitution and our strong commitment to civil liberties. It's been co-opted and not flying it is letting them have it. However, it's coded now in my parts and and it sends a message I don't want to send.
