I woke up this morning KNOWING that my call to service for democracy is, GOTV. I have a plan on hooking-up with others to set up booths and tables & to go canvassing in my neighborhood; to register people to vote & highlight part two, which is actually voting.
I understand that each and everyone of us must take actions to maintain our democracy.
What is your activism for democracy?
I would love to hear what others on DU will/are doing.

(10,875 posts)Im a veteran of volunteering in campaigns and have done everything that was ever asked of me including organizing and recruiting volunteers.
Over the years, I learned that most volunteers only are willing to do one or two things and its usually the things that are most needed that most people dont like.
Heres what is most needed (ranked in order).
1. Door to door canvassing. - this is, BY FAR, the thing that most dislike, but is most needed.
2. Phone banking
3. Office work - data entry, envelope stuffing
4. Putting together and Delivering yard signs.
5. Election Day - visibility (standing at busy intersections with signs) and rides to polls.
But, whatever you are willing to do, please sign up with a candidate or local Dem party office to help between now and November. Thanks to all that do!

(7,390 posts)I now fully "get-it" that each and every American has a duty to take some kind of actions to support our democracy.
Something. Anything. Even if you are home-bound you can call a few people on the phone to support a candidate or to GOTV.
I get-it. Every single one of us has a duty to do something to preserve our democracy.
