After stripping former CIA Director John Brennan of his security clearance over his criticism of the President and his role in the witch hunt, President Donald Trump continued taunting Brennan on Twitter Monday, daring him to file a lawsuit.
"I hope John Brennan, the worst CIA Director in our countrys history, brings a lawsuit. It will then be very easy to get all of his records, texts, emails and documents to show not only the poor job he did, but how he was involved with the Mueller Rigged Witch Hunt. He wont sue!"
"Everybody wants to keep their Security Clearance, its worth great prestige and big dollars, even board seats, and that is why certain people are coming forward to protect Brennan. It certainly isnt because of the good job he did! He is a political hack."

(115,270 posts)as was his MO for years - he'd threaten to sue to intimidate people, and then not do it. I do not think Brennan's threat is idle at all.

(115,270 posts)The Supreme Court said a civil suit can be brought against a sitting president as an individual for acts done before he took office and were unrelated to his presidency. But that was an ordinary civil case brought against a president personally. Brennan's lawsuit would be against the president as president (that is, against the representative of the government) claiming his constitutional rights were violated, and there's no prohibition against suing a president acting as the representative of the government for violating the Constitution. Right now there's a lawsuit in progress claiming Trump violated the Emoluments Clause.

(6,539 posts)It's just a trump idiom now. It's like when you use phrases such as "oh boy" or "oh my dog." They have no real meaning, they're just there. When he's in prison, he'll still be mumbling them to the walls and no one will hear his screams. Justice.
