Pentagon contradicts Trump, says he wasn't given military parade cost estimate before canceling it

Gawd, he lies about EVERYTHING!

Pentagon contradicts President Trump, says he wasn't given military parade cost estimate before canceling it
3 hrs ago

Defense officials didn’t brief President Trump on cost estimates for his long-desired military parade before he cancelled it last week, the Pentagon announced Monday, seemingly contradicting the President’s own statements on the matter.

“The President was not briefed by any member of the Department of Defense on any cost associated with the parade,” Col. Rob Manning told reporters at the Pentagon.

Manning’s announcement appears to be at odds with what Trump said after media outlets reported last week that the military extravaganza, which was originally planned for Nov. 10, could set taxpayers back $92 million.

“The local politicians who run Washington, D.C. (poorly) know a windfall when the see it,” Trump tweeted Friday. “When asked to give us a price for holding a great celebratory military parade, they wanted a number so ridiculously high that I cancelled it.”

A White House spokeswoman did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The Pentagon cancelled Trump’s controversial parade on Thursday and announced it was looking into “opportunities in 2019” to throw the armed spectacle in the nation’s capital.

better than throwing a parade for it.

Except throwing a parade for it, cancelling it, and then lying about it.

that this farce was cancelled, I still cannot understand our country's insane spending for the military. We spend more than the next five powerful countries combined, yet we keep adding to the budget.

Before I retired I was an elementary school principal and on my office door I had a sign: "AFTER WE REBUILD IRAQ, CAN WE REBUILD AMERICA'S SCHOOLS?"

OK, so now - we're gonna' have a $92 million dollar parade?

Is there ANY sanity in DC?

"Manning’s announcement appears to be at odds with what Trump said after media outlets reported last week that the military extravaganza, which was originally planned for Nov. 10, could set taxpayers back $92 million. "

Why can't they simply say "Manning’s announcement IS at odds with the liar"...it doesn't appear, IT IS AT ODDS!

At least they are not calling him "President", just trump.

It's a legal maneuver to hold lawsuits at bay.

But I agree, and it's infuriating. As in when the press reported on August 17, 2017: James Alex Field "allegedly" drove his car into a crowd of individuals and killed Heather Heyer. He was recorded doing this on video tape, so NO, it isn't just alleged, and Ms. Heyer is just as dead, allegedly or otherwise.

Alleged is about lawsuits when used in police reports. It's about presumption and the tainting of the jury pool.

and if it was held he would be confronted by that fact either with a number of protesters showing up with anti Trump signs and or by a near lack of people like at his inauguration.

They're the ones who came up with such a "ridiculously high" number he canceled it. He's telling his base "it was those evil Washington politicians who took your great celebratory parade away, you should hate them for it."

17. The real reason
Mon Aug 20, 2018, 10:01 PM
Aug 2018

The parade was “postponed” is because the recently passed National Defense Bill had language that prohibited spending money on heavy weapons participating in the march inside Washington D.C.

It was in the bill. Trump even did a signing statement about it. Why isn’t this more widely known?

into the U.S. really ballooned the budget out of sight. Trumputin had to cancel it. He so wanted to show his Best Bud Vlad what a good boy he is. Now he's going to have to wait until 2019 to officially hand over the keys to the country.
