No political sense getting in the way of this

Christina Wilkie @christinawilkie 15h15 hours ago
Hearing tonight from a surprising number of veterans and vets’ relatives who all say Trump’s handling of McCain’s death, esp the flag fiasco, did irreparable damage to their opinion of him, which had been positive until now.

WH & GOP, take note: It’s more serious than you think.

...good answer to 'why should Dems honor John McCain?'

Trump's pushing up against a reliable voting bloc (older, more independent) which could make the difference against republicans in many races around the country.

This is an easy contrast for Democrats, if we want these voters to pay attention to our party.

clearly meant to be a slap in the face to one of our own.

I know no words other than simmering and bubbling anger, if this had happened to my father when he passed.

...the military population comprises myriad political views and affiliations. Singling out McCain because of political differences is more than petty, it's an insult to every person who serves.

It's impossible to view this CiC as respectful of the men and women who serve, much less sympathetic to their needs and concerns when he can't bring himself to sincerely honor a vet of McCain's stature and experience.

I've been grappling with that one since the 2016 primaries.

He makes my Vietnam Vet dad furious. My dad, who has never worn a t-shirt in his life out in public, is now wearing a Trump baby blimp t-shirt every chance he gets.

I put a large dent in the living room ceiling when he trashed Captain Khan's family.

Hands down the worst job I had back when was accompanied the chaplain when a family (usually wife, sometimes parents) who had lost someone in Vietnam. Chaplain would give what comfort he could; I had to explain the benefits and paperwork. I don't know what Padre did afterwards; I got drunk.

So, on my list of shitbag mofos, Moron is number one.

Did they think he wasn't referring to McCain or was the insult just too subtle for them?
