https://www.sfgate.com/food/article/In-N-Out-Republican-Party-donate-boycott-Twitter-13192707.phpCalifornia burger chain In-N-Out donated $25,000 to the California Republican Party, a public filing on the California Secretary of State's website shows.
The donation was spotted by reporter Gabe Schneider, who shared the news on Twitter on Wednesday afternoon.
"In-N-Out added a new item to their secret menu," Schneider tweeted.
A number of Twitter users immediately called for a boycott of the fast food chain, using the hashtag #boycottinnout.
"No more for me," one user tweeted. "I refuse to spend money at any firm (when I have choices) that donates money to the Republican party or any Republican candidate."

(1,954 posts)Shame about 'em being right-winger donators. I'd join the boycott actively, but... Nearest one is 1,500 miles away. I'll boycott by proxy.

(38,958 posts)when I ran a small Game/Hobby Store we never, ever made any contributions or allowed signs to be placed for anyone or any proposal. It was just an opportunity to tick off one side or the other. If the owners or managers or employees want to contribute to a campaign that is there free speech right to do so, but a business needs to concentrate on their business and stay the hell out of politics.
My first reaction was that is really bad business and money not well spent. They would have better off donating that money to some worthy cause and keep politics out of the work place.
$25,000 is nothing to a business that size and it will end up costing them a lot more in the long run.

(38,958 posts)the did themselves no favor. Particularly in this divisive political climate where every move by anyone is easily announced on social media. I am sure that they will lose more than $25K with this silly business decision.
