About a year ago a story broke that in private Trump had started telling friends and associates that it wasn't HIS voice on the Access Hollywood tape. Somehow he was restrained (doubt it was self-restraint) from stating such an uncredible statement in public or tweeting it.

This is the same type of statement. No restraint. He just tweets it out there. Sure his cultists might believe him (cuz cult). His defenders will turn a blind eye. But those who are trying to hold their noses and silence - will notice - and edge a little further off the reservation.
