"A mother lost her little girl because ICE and those running the Dilley immigration prison failed them inexcusably," said R. Stanton Jones, a partner with Arnold & Porter, a Washington, D.C. law firm representing the family pro bono. Instead of offering safe harbor from the life-threatening violence they were fleeing, ICE detained Yazmin and her baby Mariee in a place with unsafe conditions, neglectful medical care, and inadequate supervision. ... The medical care Mariee received in ICE detention was woefully inadequate, neglectful, and substandard."
I ... KNEW ... one of the reasons why these fuckin bastards weren't connecting some of the parents with their children was some of the children were sick, sexually abused or DEAD !!!
FUCK THIS EVIL BUNCH OF BASTARDS IN THE WHITE HOUSE !!!
This is the some historical level evil shit, think about how many times in history there was a policy to hurt the children of people seeking help... fact or fiction?!
This isn't an accident that happened during an attempt to do something good.
Benedict Donald and the Kremlin KKKlan >>> ENACTED A POLICY TO HURT CHILDREN AND THEIR PARENTS !! <<< period end of story
Some bastards
EDIT: Looks like the baby was with her mother and got sick at one of the facilities used to keep children that were kidnapped from their parents.
I'm using kidnapped because "illegally detained" is still pussy footing around the issue of the inhumane shit Red Don and the Kremlin KKKlan racist ass's are doing at the border.
From the mothers lawyer
Instead of offering safe harbor from the life-threatening violence they were fleeing, ICE detained Yazmin and her baby in a place with unsafe conditions, neglectful medical care, and inadequate supervision, said R. Stanton Jones, a partner at Washington, D.C.-based Arnold & Porter law firm. While there, Mariee contracted a respiratory infection that went woefully undertreated for nearly a month. After it became clear that Mariee was gravely ill, ICE simply discharged mother and daughter. Yazmin immediately sought medical care for her baby, but it was too late.

I'm seeing it right in front of my face to this day; propaganda is a bitch and Nazis hid all they could.
Such evil shit

(82,849 posts)When a kidnapper's hostage dies, even if it isn't directly due to the kidnapper's actions, the kidnapper is liable to a murder charge.
Who's going to be charged, Mr. Sessions? What is the Department of Justice doing to investigate this murder, identify the perpetrators, and charge them? Where is the governor of Texas? Doesn't Texas usually take a pretty hard line against murderers?

(90,347 posts)... for treatment.
The fact that she was in that state is the fault of ICE in the first place which places the onus on them
From the article
According to the VICE story, which cites a review of the toddlers medical records as well as interviews with her mother, Mariee developed a cough, congestion and fever in the facility. After being released from Dilley, Mariee went to three hospitals in the Northeast and died after being unhooked from a respirator at the Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia.

(90,347 posts)They were seeking asylum, Red Don's edict was they were going to be no exceptions which is internationally illegal.

I could say illegally detained but I'm tired of the pussy footing around this issue.
I'm thinking for the OP titled "A Baby Red Don Kidnapped along with her mother died"
Put in the OP it was kidnapping cause the shit they're doing is illegal relative to our current treaties
thx in advance for any input

My only concern is tying the death to the separation policy when it doesn't appear to be - and having the Republicans be able to deflect criticism of the vile conditions in the detention center by pointing to the fact that the separation policy didn't cause it.

(81,304 posts)They wanted it to be a deterrent to other would-be immigrants and asylum seekers, to discourage them from wanting to come here. They deliberately did these horrible and inhuman things as an incentive NOT to try to come up here. They were quite open about it.
Pretty heartless any way you look at it. Sure smacks the philosophy behind that plaque on the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty. I wouldnt be surprised to see some news item about some red state yahoo getting arrested on Liberty Island with a hammer and chisel, for trying either to deface or break off that plaque.
You know, the Emma Lazarus poem that includes give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free...

(10,183 posts)It's not clear but it looks like the majority of that babies 6.5 weeks outside of the ICE detention facility was spent unresponsive and possibly in a coma. I guess we can call that living.

None of the articles I've been able to find suggest Mariee was separated from her mother.
So, while this is a horrendous death that likely resulted from our immigration policies - generally - it appears to have nothing to do with the family separation policy.

(32,645 posts)It's too late for thoughts and prayers, it's time for action. All appeals for decency and fairness have fallen on deaf ears, now it's time to make these fuckers pay.
Somebody like Michael Avenatti would be perfect to handle this - maybe even a class action lawsuit to help these poor people who lost their children because of ICE and DoJ's neglect.

(16,927 posts)and the circumstances regarding what led up to it needs to be the headline on every newspaper (those that are left) AND the lead story on all of the REAL national news networks. We know where we won't see it...............
Ms. Toad
(34,074 posts)You might want to adjust your headline and OP.
The center was a family detention center where the child and her mother were held
From your excerpt:
Instead of offering safe harbor from the life-threatening violence they were fleeing, ICE detained Yazmin and her baby Mariee in a place with unsafe conditions, neglectful medical care, and inadequate supervision
While the death likely is the result of our atrocious immigration policies of detaining all immigrants in woefully inadequate facilities, this particular death is not the result of the family separation policies (nor does it support the contention that reunification wasn't happening to cover up deaths resulting from it).
(Note - I did not research this case beyond reading the OP and the linked article. - if there is information to support your contention this child was stolen from her mother, I will gladly withdraw this concern )

(3,479 posts)policy, yes? Then this administration is liable for the child's death. I can't even imagine the flimsy care she was given while she was critically ill. Poor baby 😔.
Ms. Toad
(34,074 posts)This child was not kidnapped from its mother, so the headline is not correct (nor is the assertion that babies are not being returned to their parents because they are dead - at least in connection with this story.
This child was never taken from her mother (based on anything I can find).
That doesn't mean the Trump administration is not responsible - but it is not accurate to say that the Trump administration's child kidnap policy is responsible.
Facts matter.
