(82,849 posts)I wonder where he learned that? I don't usually think of 68 year old men as impressionable, but I suppose on the spectrum of humanity, there's bound to be a few of them out there.

(63,221 posts)They are not sane by normal standards and Trump has brought them out of the woodwork. Except I am beginning to believe it's looking like more of a big, fat wide band than a fringe.
He, and people like him, should be locked up for the sake of society.

(11,738 posts)Though I am sure to him and his ridiculous supporters it is just more of the "baseless and defamatory attacks". Yes, how dare they use Trump's own words which he tweets and says frequently to show how he is influencing the idiots out there that are in the same bubble he is in.

(22,137 posts)other side of the fence from this nut, and these people don't realize that they are getting the silent majority (us) slowly mad and upset that they seem to feel like they can infringe on our rights too, and that we have the right too to defend ourselves. This guy in particular (and the case in FL w/ the stand your ground situation where a angry guy pulled in front of an uber driver and his fare, and threatened them/driver with his pistol...the uber driver (I think) did the right thing and defended himself and his passenger from potential harm and shot the guy. This seems like a valid case of stand your ground...as a result of this, my thinking is perhaps changing about stand your ground...but it's got to be an open and shut case in using a gun, anytime.
Take care!

(81,516 posts)Chain began making phone calls threatening to travel to the Globes offices and shoot employees shortly after the paper announced Aug. 10 that it was launching a coordinated campaign with other newspapers to publish editorials calling on Trump to end his rhetoric about the news media, prosecutors said.
Chain made 14 threatening calls, both from his home phone and his wifes cellphone, to the newspaper between Aug. 10 and Aug. 22, according to prosecutors. He called the Globe the enemy of the people repeating one of Trumps most-used phrases for the media and threatened to kill newspaper employees, prosecutors said.
In one profanity laced call made Aug. 13, Chain allegedly said, We are going to shoot you in the head, you Boston Globe . Shoot every one of you, according to court documents.
On the day the editorials ran in newspapers across the country, Chain called the Globe newsroom and threatened to shoot Globe employees in the head later today, at 4 oclock, prosecutors said.

(10,252 posts)I feel pretty certain of that. I just want to ask all my pals here at DU not to be too angry back at him. Anger is poison. I am sure, for certain, that guy's mind is filled with habitual anger that he nurtures from the time he awakes til he falls alseep again at night. When we automatically go straight to anger and hatred at every little instance to which we are averse, for every little inconvenience and disappointment, that habitual unmindful anger is what keeps all the shit in place and going. That guy has absolutely no peace of mind. He never looks at the real cause of his unhappiness and dissatisfaction. Pretty difficult to practice peace with a mind filled with rage and hatred. Please, I ask you to just think about what it would mean to walk around with peace of mind, no matter what came your way.
This guy, BTW, will probably be prosecuted, as he should be. Hopefully he will meet Lady Justice. I feel very sad that this old fart has made such a stupid decision, and so late in life. Actions have consequences.

(11,738 posts)Not typically what we think of with the term protege, but I am sure the OP is using it to show how these people are being mentored in their hatred of the Press, by Donald Trump's own frequent words.
Trump, but continuing his ridiculous attacks on the Press is in a sense, guiding idiots like Chain, in taking more and more aggressive steps toward attacking the "Fake News" and "Enemy of the People" as Trump likes to tweet and say.
