White House ethics lawyer Stefan Passantino leaving administration
White House ethics lawyer Stefan Passantino is leaving the Trump administration, a senior White House official told NBC News on Thursday.
His last day is Friday.
Passantino who had been in charge of making sure White House officials complied with government ethics rules had helped several White House officials deal with a number of ethics controversies, including a notorious March 2017 incident in which Kellyanne Conway, a counselor to President Donald Trump, plugged the clothing line of the president's daughter, Ivanka Trump, on national television.
Passantino is just the latest lawyer to depart the Trump White House.

(7,541 posts)Richard Painter ran against an established Dem in Minnesota...he lost. As much as he wails on Trump, he was W's ethics lawyer, and by default Dick Cheney's as well. Which by inference means he has no ethics, when push comes to shove.

I do think Painter is basically an ethical guy, although I voted for Tina Smith in the MN primary. I hope Painter will endorse and support her in the general. He's also the vice-chairman of CREW, the organization that's suing Trump for violating the Emoluments Clause.
