For Florida Governor: The racist vs. the black guy
I'm in full puke mode. We here in FL are about to have to endure a couple of horrendous, ugly, race-baiting months of viciousness and hatred.
The Republican candidate is Ron DeSantis, a Trump wannabe who has already called the Democrat, Gillum, a "monkey." One of his primary ads was so embarrassingly Trump/clownish that even Saturday Night Live couldn't have outdone it. (It ended with a shot of his baby wearing a MAGA hat. And that wasn't even the worst part.)
Andrew Gillum is the Mayor of Tallahassee. This is a guy that any sane state would be proud to have as their Governor. He's smart, sane, quick, liberal, "with it," and understands that the average American worker has been getting fucked for years, and is getting fucked now worse than ever. But this is Florida. And Gillum is black.
So this election is going to come down to how many bigots/rednecks/morons vote, vs. how many blacks/Hispanics/sane whites vote. (Not to mention how many Democratic votes the Republicans can manage to "lose" or suppress.)
Many Dems I know are going to do something -- knock on doors, make phone calls, drive people to polls, etc. Will it be enough? Who knows. After all, this is the state that made Al Gore president, only to see the Supreme Court tell America to fuck off.
