Trump cancels pay raise due federal workers in January

Trump cancels pay raise due federal workers in January

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump has told Congress he is canceling a pay raise that most civilian federal employees were due to receive in January, citing budgetary constraints.

Trump informed House and Senate leaders in a letter sent Thursday.

Trump says in the letter that locality pay increases would cost $25 billion, on top of a 2.1 percent across-the-board increase for most civilian government employees.

He cites the costs and says: “We must maintain efforts to put our Nation on a fiscally sustainable course, and Federal agency budgets cannot sustain such increases.” Trump says he’s determined that for 2019 “both across-the-board pay increases and locality pay increases will be set at zero.”

He needs to pull back that tax break he gave all his rich friends. I'm sure they'd gladly return it...loving him as they do...

Giving them such a gift doesn't put the money back in the market, but giving a raise to the government workers would...get it circulating.

He is simply governing by gut.

To the hard-working federal employees Trump just screwed by cutting pay — the folks who run our parks, protect our communities, & serve our veterans: YOU MATTER. If billionaires can get tax cuts, you should get a COLA. You work hard for America & that should add up to something.

If hardworking federal employees have to suffer so Trump can have his tax cut, then so should Trump's golf game.

Didn't that imbecile say he wasn't going to have any time to play golf?

Leading the announcer to say things like...

"And now I present to you, Mr. President, the 1st Battalion, 41st Field Artillery Regiment from Fort Stewart, Georgia. "Glory's Guns" have fought in...the battalion has stopped...the battalion has currently pirouetted to the left and is now facing the White House...the battalion is raising its cannons...the battalion is currently scaring the shit out of me...the battalion is currently passing live rounds into their guns...I'm getting the fuck out of here...good luck, Mr. President..."

Red state economies are very reliant on federal, state, county and city jobs. In Florida, the ratio of government to private sector jobs is very high. Most blue states, except for Vermont, Rhode Island, Nevada and New Mexico, have diverse economies. Also, the longer a state has been dominated by democrats, the more diverse and vibrant it's economy.
