Orrin Hatch asks FTC to examine "potential antitrust developments in Google's search & digital ads"

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Senator Orrin Hatch on Thursday asked the Federal Trade Commission to examine the potential antitrust developments in Google’s search and digital advertising.

Hatch, the Republican chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, said in a letter to FTC Chairman Joseph Simons he was concerned about the Alphabet Inc unit’s practices, citing a number of antitrust complaints and reports since the agency’s last investigation in 2013.

Alphabet shares were little changed after the news.

Trump’s economic adviser, Larry Kudlow, later said the White House was “taking a look” at Google, saying the administration would do “some investigation and some analysis,” without providing further details.

Republicans do not give a shit about anti-trust anything. They are for trusts. They want Sinclair to buy up all of Tribune's outlets except that Sinclair was so stupid and arrogant that it blew a sure deal.

Hatch and the other Republcan idiots are going after Google for purely political reasons. They could have "looked into" these same concerns anytime in the last 6 years that they have held Congress.

Or maybe a video with cool pictures would get through... Although it's a bit over 5 minutes and doesn't mention "Trump" even once so it may be to long to keep the toddler-in-chief, his GOP sycophants or Cult45 engaged.
