though some earlier ag's have enforced the concept informally, albeit not based on a strict count of days.

congressional investigations are often intended to influence elections (certainly the ones republicans run), so they don't observe anything like this.

The candidate was supposed to be running for office for this unwritten provision to kick in.

Besides, Trump and his conspirators are not on the ballot so there is zero concern for conflict

At least they mostly act like adults...except when they have a rogue cabal that decides to interfere with an election like Buttercup's boys in the NY office. Still waiting for the investigations on that...guess they'll have to wait until the Dems take back at least one branch of the f*cking government.
