Don't know of Chuck's "inside track", but he is a DC insider:
MSNBCs Chuck Todd issued a warning to the press on Thursday evening regarding the Russia investigation: Dont miss work tomorrow.
Todds MTP Daily panel was discussing Special Counsel Robert Muellers probe, and speculating as to when the investigation will wrap up.
Heres what Ive learned about Bob Mueller, Todd said. Not a single person that has known him, been with him, worked with him, wouldnt say that he would have ended this investigation if there was no collusion. He would have already ended this investigation.
We cant tell that, though, until he tells us, Republican strategist Brad Todd said.
The panel went on to debate whether Mueller can make any major announcements in the investigation between Labor Day and the midterm elections. Major developments after Labor Day could be seen as interference in elections (cc: James Comey.)
I think he knows, more than anything, he keeps quiet between Labor Day and Election Day, Chuck Todd said.
Im not missing work tomorrow, he continued. I wouldnt miss work tomorrow. Tomorrow is the last business day of the pre-Labor Day to Election Day window.

(14,961 posts)will indict Jr. this week. I realize they are wrong sometimes, they are also correct sometimes.
I've been hearing Stone would be indicted for months.
I hope it turns out to be something big.

Ratings (and money) is why the tv "news" was exuberantly complicit in stopping us from electing the most qualified candidate for president that any of us are ever likely to see. (She damn near did it in spite of bothsiderism, Putin, ratings, mysogyny, 30 years of propaganda, Comey, Todd, Rose, Lauer, etc., etc., etc.).

(49,007 posts)The 60 day guideline is only a guideline, I expect Mueller will attempt to observe it, though many eventualities are out of his hands of course.
Mueller is not going to stop working. But don't expect any dramatic indictments or stunning announcements after Friday 8 days away until after the election. There may well be, depending on developments, but don't expect them. Somebody might try to leave the country and have to be arrested and charged or similar; events Mueller can't predict or control.
Do expect Trump-Giuliani agit-prop.
Mueller's team have a lot of dots to connect and lots of work to do. There is of course also Manafort's trial Sept. 24, too.

After all, it is only political media that should be allowed to speak in the "window" and anyone who can pay the inflated ad rates, of course.

Also, failing to release information on a timely basis could have as big an impact politically as actually releasing information.

(50,278 posts)he doesn't want to interfere with the McCain tributes and figures that 2 months before the election gives him until September 6. Monday is a holiday, so that leaves Tuesday through Thursday to drop an indictment bomb.

(3,666 posts)So the idea that he shouldn't or wouldn't do anything to influence the election is nonsense. Completely made up by the press sort of at the instigation of Rudy Giuliani and lazily parroted by the press.
Why should the pursuit of justice be tailored to avoid influencing an election in which the target is not involved. It makes no sense whatsoever.
So the press should quit with this silly talking point.
Thanks for writing this, so I wont have to.

(21,577 posts)i heard rumors around here that mueller would be done some time in september.
but i don't think the "after labor day" thing means anything to him
and he is not going to rush out anything tomorrow just because it is the friday before labor day. when mueller is ready to turn in a report we're going to know about it ahead of time

Chuck's not Nostradamus. Chuck's reading the tea leaves based on past decisions made by Mueller. He might be right, he might be wrong. I'm not going to get myself worked up over anything that "might" happen.
The key here, that has been stated over and over again, is that yes...Comey DID "interfere in an election"...a PRESIDENTIAL election. That's the protocol, that's the precedent, and we're not having one of those in November.
I understand that if Mueller makes a move between Labor Day and November that he will be accused of "interfering in an election."
But I don't think he's timing anything to "drop" tomorrow.
I think Chuck's getting himself worked up over Fitzmas, and I won't allow myself to fall for that twice.
If it happens, I'll be dancing in the streets with everyone else.
If it doesn't, it will happen when it happens.

(43,182 posts)"wouldnt say that he would have ended this investigation if there was no collusion" WHAT?
In a matter of national sovereignty, the Labor-to-Electon Days rule is out the window. Could there be information released in September? Absolutely. After Columbus Day? Probably not. Ten days before the election? Only if it's to balance James Comey, 2016.

(10,721 posts)...that it was completely unnecessary--it was a nothing burger. But newsworthy results of an investigation into a candidate (especially one who isn't on the ballot in the upcoming election) should be revealed regardless of timing.

(20,692 posts)Rachel said this is the first time we've directly seen evidence of foreign money entering the trump campaign/inauguration committee. He's admitting to laundering and Rachel said they raised far more money than they could have spent on the inauguration, and that we don't know where that money went....
She also said that if people are getting warnings and pleading guilty to lying to the congressional committees, then trump's sons are guilty, too, along with lots of others directly connected to trump.

Prosecutors say Samuel Patten sought tickets to Donald Trumps presidential inauguration on behalf of a prominent Ukrainian oligarch. Patten acted as a straw purchaser, funneling the Ukrainians money secretly to the inauguration committee through a Cypriot bank account.
