“Ford has abruptly killed a plan to sell a Chinese-made small vehicle in the U.S. because of the prospect of higher U.S. Tariffs.” CNBC. This is just the beginning. This car can now be BUILT IN THE U.S.A. and Ford will pay no tariffs!

result in a higher consumer cost than the tariffs?

I'm sure Ford will run the numbers and make their decision accordingly.

Aside from that, U.S. labor will pay income taxes, and the workers will receive fringe benefits in addition to their wages. This isn't such a bad thing.

https://247wallst.com/autos/2018/07/07/terrible-china-sales-rock-ford/

China is the world’s largest car market, posting total sales of 24.2 million last year, compared with the United States at approximately 17 million. Ford Motor Co.’s (NYSE: F) prospects in China have dimmed terribly this year, making most of the company’s global initiatives seem like footnotes.

They planned to dump them on the US market and it isn't working. My husband is a Ford/ UAW retiree so the antics of Ford has been of great concern. The mismanagement has been awful, the line up is terrible. Obviously Chinese operations are even worse.

That’s a crime, and he knew full well when he did it.
I know he’ll either plead ignorance or say “it wasn’t so bad” but both are bullshit.
It’s how he built his wealth- criminal activity.

graduates of Wharton, and tRump is a F'en embarrassment. I cringe every time the asshole talks about how brilliant he is and Wharton. F, he isn't even bright enough to have graduated from the elementary school I graduated from, much less my universities. This asshole is the best the republicans can offer? Says a lot about what republicans are like and what they represent.

story I got from our Nieces son who teaches English to Preschoolers of Auto Execs from Hyundai Sales. Just visited with him three weeks ago before he headed back for the next term. He said the people love their Toyota's and Nissan's,but the Hyundai/Kia are significant cheaper . He said it depends on which major city you live in. This Term he is Teaching in Macau, and he said there you find more Luxury Cars because of the income disparity.
