Comcast - TURN THE VOLUME DOWN!!!!! - On Commercials Streaming Xfinity - My Ears Bleeding

Since my government is failing before my eyes, I like to watch CNN and MSNBC all day while I work. I stream the news on my laptop into speakers in my office at home, and on my work computer. I turn up the volume so I can hear what they are saying. Then comes a commercial at 3 times the volume and I have to drop everything and turn it down before I start screaming and throwing sh*t.

They have no idea how much this pisses me off. It happens on regular cable too, where the commercials are twice as loud as the programs. Streaming seems worse though. Pain level volume difference.

Comcast must hate their subscribers, and torturing them is laughed about in their board meetings.

Someday I will go to my Comcast service place with a blowhorn and have someone make me a video describing the difference between programming and COMMERCIAL VOLUME.

Anyone else notice this problem?

I thought they passed legislation about this, but don't see any difference. Maybe commercials used to be 5 times as loud.....

I've connected to my tv. The sound for the regular programming is normal but some of the ads are almost inaudible. I have no idea why that is but it's fine with me.

ad audio, which often seems to be different from programming audio. There's an attached subwoofer and maybe a lot of the ads don't carry those frequencies in their audio tracks. In any event, most ads aren't as loud as the programs.

I have to turn the headset off when the commercials come on because they are so loud it hurts my ears.

Not to mention those %#$^^&^& drug commercials that have a list of one hundred and fifty side effect and go on and on and on about them. Those are irritating as all get out.

Then there are the commercials that have some pretty good music. or whatever then start yelling/screaming toward the end. What's with the ad people?

Cannot hit the mute button fast enough.
There should be something that can be done about it.

I tried the steps outlined in the link you provided and the volume for the commercials has been reduced.
On the TV menu - select Sound
select Auto Volume Leveling - Select On
Thank You!

The volume on commercials is much higher that the shows that I was watching. It was an irritating problem and I felt that it was done on purpose and should be stopped. Making a commercial louder will make me less likely to buy something, because the commercial irritated me.

It seems very calculated so that when you get up for a snack or whatever during the commercials, you HAVE to hear it, if you're not seeing it. I use a streaming service now, so it's not possible to ff thru the commercials, which I used to do when I had Directv or Dish. All I can do now is mute the sound during them. The commercials pay the bills for the cable companies, not much we can do about it.
