I like them and all. Just not every time I turn my TV on for weeks at a time. Hell, I know how to find the medal count when they are over with.
We have an election to win here in a couple of months.
Lets get ready to rumble.

(57 posts)What will change?
The Senate and House will both be divided with no 60 seat majority in the Senate we get 4 more years of the same and the wealthy will continue to hoard cash and the RW will continue to scream about the Muslim Marxist Communist Socialist in the WH.
To answer you other question, US Olympic Coverage jumped the shark years ago and with the internets today if TV coverage is not live then you might as well be watching I Love Lucy reruns instead.

(57 posts)Vote, don't vote, your life your choice I could careless.
The real battle is post election, you are wanting to fight a battle that is already over.
The real fight will start post election, start planning now or the Dems will waste another 4 years while people suffer.

(12,472 posts)Was just talking yesterday with the kids about how I miss the games. But...your right about getting into campaign work mode. It's time... now that Ryan is in as VP candidate. We will have kick things into gear now....I'm ready to put on the gloves.

(31,706 posts)While I consider myself a "news junkie" I have been enjoying the past two weeks of limited politics as a nice break from the sturn and drang of the political campaign and a breather before the noise and angst ahead.
The games are only 2 weeks every four years...and I always enjoy being exposed to sports and atheletes who don't get the limelight. There's a bit of uplifting when you see someone whose worked hard to achieve reach the pinacle of their world...those who make it and those who don't. It's a rare time the world actually does get together...and I have no regrets watching and enjoying the coverage. Kudos to NBC for the "overload"...lots to see and enjoy.

Two-time NCAA wrestling champion Jake Varner will attempt to win gold for Team USA at the 96kg (211.5 lbs) weight class. He will succeed, and the reasons why are not difficult to understand.
Varner, an Iowa State alum, fell just shy of making the U.S. Olympic team for the 2008 Beijing Games as a sophomore in college, but now is one of the favorites at the London Games and the top-ranked 96kg American wrestler, according to TheMat.com.
Now a member of the Nittany Lion Wrestling Club at Penn State University, he has worked hard in preparation for these Olympics.
