A couple of thoughts on the Ford accusation

One thing that strikes me about Ford's story is that she says "I thought he might inadvertently kill me." In other words, he had his hand over both her mouth and her nose so that she couldn't breath, and she was worried that in his drunkenness he might suffocate her. No wonder she was so very scared by what he did and traumatized for years afterward. Not only fear of rape, but of death.

The other thing is that Mark Judge, Kavanaugh's wingman and drinking buddy, is kind of a (very minor) hero of the story. Though Judge is also drunk, it is Kavanaugh that pushes her into the room. Judge's comments range from "go for it" to "stop", which at least indicates he might have had a moment of humanity. And it is Judge who barrels into Kavanaugh in the middle of the assault, knocking him off of Ford, and giving her time to get out of the room. And, years later when he sees her again, he is apparently ashamed and uncomfortable. As much of an asshole he seems to have been, at least his actions led to the end of the assault.

1. Grassley Will Fold

Sep 2018

Version 1: Grassley would fold if Professor Ford said she would immediately press charges for attempted rape on both Kavanaugh and Mr. Judge if her terms were not met. Statute of Limitations have not expired where the attempted rape occured.

Version 2: Wait until he is confirmed ( if he makes it ) and then press charges. When he goes down, you get two for one. The Judgeship and the Supreme Court are then both captured. The benefit is that when the Dems win the Senate they control the pick, effectively stealing the SCOTUS back by trading Merrick for Kavanaugh.

Unbelievable.

If he was such a fucking hero, why isn't he standing up and saying that he did those things?

12. Well he reportedly had a drinking problem and alcoholic memory blackouts.

In other words, he might not remember what he did or didn't do.
"Judge has written about his Prep years as a time of drunken debauchery. Beach Week, a summertime excursion with classmates, was a nonstop roller coaster of drinking, sexual encounters with girls from other prep schools, blackouts and more drinking. “It was impossible to stop until I was completely annihilated,” he wrote."

Episode in his youth and he wants very much for us to know that it is mostly BLACK OUT for him. A free pass or halfway apology depending on how you look at it.

I've seen some that argue against Dr Ford's credibiity

This one resonated with me:
I’ve studied false rape claims. The accusation against Kavanaugh doesn’t fit the profile.
https://www.vox.com/first-person/2018/9/18/17874504/kavanaugh-assault-allegation-christine-blasey-ford

This one was fairly comprehensive against Kavanaugh's credibility on the other issues
https://www.americanprogress.org/issues/courts/news/2018/09/21/458457/kavanaughs-credibility-chasm/

But a big one for me in all this is "actions speak louder than words"

Dr. Ford passed a lie detector test, presented therapists notes of 2012 & 2013, has witnesses to call, Kavanaugh's high school & college frat have a history that fits this claim and at penalty of prison for lying, Dr Ford wants the FBI to investigate.

The GOP and Kavanaugh are bullying, smearing, creating false doppleganger theories, rushing to judgement with "mixed up" & "mistaken" and trying to avoid Dr. Ford getting a fair hearing with them on TV asking her the questions. And they don't want to hear from Dr Ford's witnesses or have the FBI look into it.

I think their actions are enormous in revealing the likely truth.

And even more than that, to me, Kavanaugh, sitting there silently instead of calling for a FBI investigation, calling to hear Dr. Ford's witnesses and look at her evidence, etc proves he lacks the integrity and fairness to be a Justice of the highest court in the land. If he were telling the truth, he'd have little to fear.

towards the conclusion that she is telling the truth. I've seen no meta analysis of her claims to the contrary. Thanks for the links.

how hard it would be for her to prove the criminal case. And some that question whether the statute of limitations for a 1980s crime would apply when it did not get extended until 1996, etc.

But the one they can nail him on is how he handled this allegation. He hasn't behaved with integrity and fairness dealing with Dr. Ford.

Most women fear death when being raped. Even if there is no expressed or apparent threat. Why would a rapist let someone go who has the power to send him to jail for years?

It's nearly always in the back of our minds.

As to Judge - I agree wtih the comments below. It seems you've cast his actions in the light most favorable to him. My understanding of jumping onto the bed was that he wanted to join his buddy's fun, but was too clumsy to accomplish it.
