I just heard something that I believe people here may find interesting. A trusted associate said that a significant part of why Trump is holding his 5 pm/est press conference is related to his fuming at being laughed at yesterday at the UN. The synergy from this and his frustrations resulting from private conversations with Senate republicans has him freaking out. At this point, only Stephen Miller thinks the press conference is a good idea.
Enjoy the show!

(74,700 posts)Trump is experiencing a delusional period. That is actually rather common among sociopaths under pressure. They lose what grasp of reality they (ab)normally have, and believe that they can "super lie" their way out.

Apparently the media coverage yesterday further upset him. He had, of course, attempted to say he was joking. No one bought it, and journalists referenced how often he has used similar lines in other speeches. The thought of being laughed at made for a near sleepless night.

(34,303 posts)Oh boy, if that is it he is not doing well.
I cannot believe every single day this man is where he is. THIS is the worst crazy crap I have ever heard. How is he allowed to say what he says? It is totally obvious that he is insane and incapable of stringing two thoughts together without a stupid lie and chest thumping self aggrandizing in between. He is paranoid beyond anyone I have ever known.
What would happen if they tied his hands together?
Vocabulary? Jesus this is just really getting to me today. Thank god I have a rehearsal tonight and can forget about this lying, angry, mean and immensely stupid man.
How dare he really, how dare he?

(34,303 posts)to describe. Malignant lunacy is pretty darned close to a perfect description.
I am just wrung out by all of this. Bush** drive me nuts, he was stupid and dangerous but Trump is another thing all together. I kept expecting someone to run out and strap him up and haul him out. I mean, anyone else saying the things he said about people, institutions etc are enough to call the man deeply insane. Ah well. I like Malignant Lunacy. Good one.
Sugar Smack
(18,748 posts)and I could tell the reporters were stunned. Baffled. I got away to think for a minute. I thought of Obama, and even Bush** before him. And Bill Clinton. Are you seeing a lot of threads echoing the thought "this can't be happening". It was a display worthy of a grab offstage, or something. Yet, no one showed up to restrain him.
I have a growing supply of GOP epithets, whether I want to or not. Furthermore, I've cussed more this year than in the rest of my life put together (which includes my drinking years). Days like this, I don't know what I'd do without this forum.

Trump loves getting up there in front of the world and waving his tiny hands around, but the epic fail of a speech he gave the other day may have tipped him completely into Bolton's camp.
