They are easily recognized, I think, and extend beyond their misogyny. They are arrogance and self-love. Nothing else matters to such men. Not their families. Not their friends. Nothing.

Donald Trump epitomizes this, and Brett Kavanaugh is another such man.

I don't know if a tendency toward it is inborn or if it is a learned mindset. But it's common and prevalent in people in positions of power.

Brock Turners grow up to be Brent Kavanaughs, who make rules for Brock Turners.

Many of us never told what happened to us until years later. Of my close female friends from college over half have said they had a similar experience in high school or college. Dr. Ford is our heroine.

despite her obvious fear and trepidation. She is telling the truth. Period.

I have heard similar stories, and worse, from girls and women I have known. It's not something one lies about. Throughout my life, a number of people have trusted me enough to share life experiences like that with me. I'm not exactly sure why that is, but that has been my experience. I've listened, and have simply empathized with them.

I had an old memory come up of a time when I was 15 and attended a supposed party with a good friend. She had a crush on a boy she had just met. I went to support her. We got there and found four boys of 16 or 17 drinking beer and no other girls! Thank God, after a short time there, one of the boys said, "these are nice girls, they don't belong here". We got out of there and never talked about it again. 15 year olds are dumb and clueless. I believe her 100%!

Dr. Ford's relatable humanity. You can sense that during her testimony as she described the raucous laughter between Judge and Kavanaugh, two boys having a 'good' time as she was pinned beneath Kavanaugh's weight.

The reason this rings so true to women in particular is because as young women we've been there, either witnessing or experiencing this sort of crass, gross cruelty that some young men demonstrate towards young women, as if we have no agency whatsoever, as if we simply exist for someone else's amusement.

She's doing a very good job. My husband told me that even Fox News is reporting that Dr. Ford's testimony is highly credible.

Most people are very good at detecting authenticity in others. Dr. Ford exudes authenticity.
