I thought Mitch would cram this through, but I'm betting that he doesn't have the votes after Dr. Ford's testimony.

He will be confirmed ahead of the midterms. This will, I hope, cost the Rethugs dearly and they'll lose both chambers.

It will be pretty impossible to remove him though. I don't see two-thirds of the Senate ever doing that.

It could be an endless gift to the Democratic cause. They should have thought of that before nominating such a flawed candidate. Ah well, making smart decisions just isn’t their strength.

Conservative law students have a leg up because they're rare. He was a shoo-in. His students think he's great--but they are conservative students, not the best and brightest I'm sure. Maybe there are a few smart evil ones, but mostly subpar frat boys waiting to be ushered into high-paying jobs. Children of alumni, kids who pay full price, parents who donate, admission offices and emplyers looking for "the other point of view." He can't wait to take affirmative action away from the disadvantaged and keep it all for the advantaged.

This is going to produce a massive wave of Americans who will pursue other civic action: protesting, canvassing, door-knocking, organizing, calling voters, getting in their representative's face and SCREAMING at them. Political life is about to change in interesting ways for the fat and happy incumbents who thought that all the rest of us weren't paying attention to what they were doing. There were a lot of people who have been watching what happened today, and we are all righteously pissed off.
