The damage done to the judiciary by politicizing SCOTUS is the GOAL, not an unfortunate byproduct
The people who buy political influence WANT the courts politicized because then the judiciary can be bought, just like Congress and the White House are. They are very, very deep into the process already.
Either they get their bought guy today, or they further degrade the miniscule remaining independent and apolitical nature of the Court and make it yet easier to get a bought guy the next time. They have deep pockets and aren't gong anywhere.
