Assuming all Dems vote against. The count is 49 Dem 51 repugs. If they lose 2, he gets defeated.

Senate is 51-49.

If two r's sit it out, that's 49-49.

In case of a tie, pence gets to vote. 50-49. Done.

If you read the post that I replied to, the person listed how many would be needed, assuming no Dems voted for that asshole.

They have 51 republicans. Ad we have 49 dems. And not a single dem better vote for this Under oath liar.

IF two republicans vote against slimy k, he loses.

But the much more likely answer is that 2 abstain. That way they can pretend they didnt vote for him, but also claim they didnt vote against him.

In which case its a 49/49 tie. And Pence becomes the tie breaker.

Unless we get far more out of an investigation whos limits have been circumscribed by Donald Trump than I trust we will, I believe this is what will happen. Collins and Murkowski abstain, maybe even head back to their home states early to hold some town halls during the vote to ask what they should do. Flake signs on the dotted line with 48 other Republicans. And Pence puts them over the line.

And then we get to have an election.

Kav said in his opening remarks he wouldn't withdraw.

McConnell previously said they'd have a floor vote regardless of committee vote (don't remember where I read that), and it is consistent with what he did with ACA repeal.

Congress is telling Trump they can't support this guy. Kavanaugh will withdraw over the weekend to pursue a life in the private sector. He will then become a corporate lawyer for one of the Koch industries and never be heard from again.

Midterms will be like the Battle of Little Bighorn with republicans reprising the role of Gen Custer and his men.
