So we saw what a cold sober Bret Kavanaugh is like. Pretty much an angry white privileged ass. (Original Post) Augiedog Sep 2018 OP

And he revealed himself to be a very mean bully. He re-traumatized millions of people, I would wager. He did me.

Not rape or sexual abuse... but I survived an abusive first husband (now dead). His death pretty much ended it for me (drank himself to death) but watching today's testimony and hearing the stories was a vivid reminder of what I went through (even if on smaller scale, it was continuous).

An alcoholic, but also a pathologic narcissist.

I was re-traumatized this week, and especially today when Kav was ranting.

I know too well the knot in the stomach when he has been drinking. The wariness. The fear.

I was married far too long to the bully.

I'm so glad you survived.

That mercurial, intemperate, unpredictable roller coaster of anger and self-pity we saw today must have triggered a lot of bad memories in a lot of people, even people who weren't sexually assaulted.

If he gets onto the Supreme Court, he is going to be utterly loathed and despised by a huge percentage of the population for a long time. He is a motivation to vote like Gorsuch was not.

The nose running, the twisted face, the interrupting, the fear and loathing.....he almost seemed to be outside himself. And then toward the end, he looked almost disoriented, dazed. It was very weird. Especially following Dr. Ford's self control.

I would not want to be in a room with him sober, much less when he's drinking. He scares me.

drink before he showed up today. He was too unhinged in his opening scree to be entirely sober.

and ask people if they are registered to vote. I get a few random people every time I go out; but I don't really like the world so I stay in my garden as much as I can. But if Chrissy (as she is known to her old classmates) can buck up, so can I.

he chose to be just a little bit lubricated for his day in the hot seat.
