Womack's challenger, Josh Mahony is behind and facing an uphill battle.
Why this matters:
In this rural district, meth is epidemic. Not only was his son a drug abuser himself, he was charged with distributing the very drug that has claimed so many lives and ruined families. So many reasons as to why this matters.

(11,345 posts)Jermaine James, 40, of Fayetteville, also was sentenced to five years of supervised release after his prison term, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of Arkansas.
The federal Drug Enforcement Administration arrested James after an investigation in February 2017. Agents arranged a controlled buy of methamphetamine with James.
A grand jury indicted him in September 2017, and he pleaded guilty in November.
James was being held Friday at the Washington County Detention Center awaiting transfer to a federal facility.

(11,345 posts)In November 2012, he was arrested in connection with violating parole.
He pleaded guilty in November 2010 to conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance, a felony. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison with a boot camp recommendation -- a 105-day program. He was also arrested for violating parole in November 2011 and April 2012, according to previous newspaper reports.
Womack was being held in the county jail on Friday with no bond set.
He has a court date of Nov. 5.

(82,849 posts)I can't imagine this is going to make Congressman Womack more popular, even in Arkansas. Mahony may be behind, but five weeks of Womack-related bad news isn't likely to increase Womack's lead.

We also have a hugh drug epidemic here in SW Ohio. The war on drugs is clearly failing and we need to find a way to move past it and get people the help they need so they can become productive members of society.
