To those wondering if we need a "branding" type gesture or symbol or action to unify understanding of our anger right now, I offer this:
The silent mob.
No slogans, no chanting.
No wearing tape over our mouths- We are not "silenced" we are silent.
We are watching.
We are present.
In large numbers.
Silently.
Everywhere they go.
Wear t-shirts with slogans, hold signs, carry banners, whatever.
But no sound.
Just watch them.
Stone-faced.
Their time is coming.
We will deliver it.
That's what has been running through my head, since Friday. It will work anywhere we can assemble NUMBERS.
Standing, silently.
Or, if standing isn't allowed, we can use the old labor/strike technique- walking as on a track, in constant motion over a small space, watching them. Silently.
They want us silent?
Let's give them what they want.
A silent crowd, wherever they go, wherever they are.

Winter is coming.

(804 posts)I also think we should go all Sun Tzu on them:
"If your enemy is secure at all points, be prepared for him. If he is in superior strength, evade him. If your opponent is temperamental, seek to irritate him. Pretend to be weak, that he may grow arrogant. If he is taking his ease, give him no rest. If his forces are united, separate them. If sovereign and subject are in accord, put division between them. Attack him where he is unprepared, appear where you are not expected."

The way I see it: If being loud make them angry, irritated, and antagonistic, then so be it. Even if our anger doesn't look pretty on camera.

As far as Im concerned I think its great to get people in the streets but Im far more interested in making sure they are in the voting booth on November 6th.
Social media is our greatest enemy. People vent on a blog or Twitter and it satisfies psychological need to relieve that penned up frustration and anger but that action has little to no impact on national politics as it is a drowned out voice among millions and has no impact on local politics at all.
People need to think local, act local. If more people cared about their local and state politics as they do about national politics, most problems would fix themselves. Local and state politics is the key to long term Democratic Party success.

(8,732 posts)The key is to make sure they know who you are and why you are there: branding would be everything.
At the end of day, I still go back to President Obamas catch phrase:
Dont boo, vote!
Simple, straightforward and action-oriented.
I can actually see thousands of signs and tee shirts saying just that...
Might go have one made...
