Well, we have descended into abject parody now.
The Turtle, Mitch McConnell, has a new pitch to his base to rouse it to come out and vote in three weeks: VOTE OR DIE!! No, really, his pitch is that the liberal mob won’t stop with just suppressing conservatives, but wants to eliminate them.
Ever since the Kavanaugh confirmation, the idea of “mob rule” has been the new meme among Republicans. It’s as if 2010 and the Tea Party mobs were just a figment of our collective political imagination. Eric Holder makes a political statement that when Republicans go low, Democrats should kick them, and the right has a collective case of the vapors about “civility” and “liberal violence.” This is the same right which, represented by the likes of Ted Nugent, engages in blatant eliminationist speech, salivating over the prospect of internment camps and prison for all sorts of state enemies.
The fact that this gang has to resort to such lurid appeals is indicative that it knows November 6 will not be a good day for it. And the appeals are so lurid that it makes one think that not only is the House gone, but the Senate might be on a knife’s edge as well. When you have nothing substantive upon which to hang your hat, liberals under the bed with knives ready to stab you is the image of last resort.
It’s so hard to keep track of what we are. Are we pansy, limp-wristed social justice warriors who need safe spaces, or murdering Mau-Maus ready to kill whitey? Are we brainless zombies following orders from George Soros, or evil geniuses intent on subverting the Republic? As many have said, we’re Schrödinger’s liberals, at once docile and maniacal.
