Missoulians protest Trump's "MAGA rally" with an extra-special YUGE "welcome" sign

With Mount Jumbo’s “L” transformed into the word “LIAR” and scores of protesters taking to the streets across Missoula, protesters peacefully unleashed their dissatisfaction with President Donald Trump on the day he was coming for a rally.

The president was coming to Missoula, a small blue island in a big red sea, to campaign for Republican U.S. Senate candidate Matt Rosendale, who is seeking to unseat two-term Sen. Jon Tester, a Democrat.

Loretta Cooper, 79, of Seeley Lake drove down with friends to support Tester. who she said has "supported our military and firefighters and people of Montana.''

Cooper attended the "Love Trumps Hate" rally at the Playfair Park along with more than a hundred others. While a bongo drum circle played in the background and volunteers registered people to vote, Cooper explained why she made the journey.

"I don't think (Trump) is a good leader," she said. "I don't think he's honest and I think he's probably put the United States in a very difficult position."

But notice that Trump goes right into the blue pocket to stage a rally. Missoula's majority Democrat, but a visit like this makes the local Republicans feel a lot better about themselves. Folks who aren't tuned in to politics get some local excitement - the President's coming to town! Even with as bad a president as Trump, that impresses some people.

Beto O'Rourke is doing a good job in Texas, visiting every last county in the state, and he's turned what should have been a pro forma re-election for Ted Cruz into a hotly contested race. It's probably not much fun going to visit the rock-ribbed conservatives of East Bumblebury or Lower Slobovia, but if O'Rourke can peel just a few percentage points of moderate or undecided voters, he can flip this seat. More Democrats should incorporate this strategy into their campaigns.

I felt violated by the orange SOB’s visit...still do but the protest was impressive and made me feel a lot better. Many more folks like me here in Missoula than trump humpers. That said, my protest partner, my son and husband went out to dinner after the march and a group of humpers came in and sat at the table next to us. One of them is Ryan Zinke’s cousin! Sooooooooo, my protest pal and I reached into our bags and slowly took out our pink pussy hats and put them on our heads. Let’s just say the room got quiet. It was friggin awesome. It was a good day.

28. Missoula's the biggest population center in western MT,

west of the Great Plains. Trump usually avoids university cities these days for obvious reasons; but trying to unseat Senator Tester, they chose this location.

Looks like they may have made a mistake since the press is reporting the student response.

Fwiw, Senator Tester is conservative enough for responsible conservatives. It's the trumpster authoritarians who are told to be rabidly against him.

I heard today that roughly 1/3 of the people showing up at many of these midterm rallies are newish voters, many having voted for the first time in 2016, and thus the reason why Trump is telling everyone a vote for the local candidate is a vote for him.

Stupid self-banging fools, depending on us to save them but having no idea.
