Top News Story on Google News, here is the Headline from Fox:
Fact Check: Ryan budget plan doesn't actually slash the budget
Government spending increases almost every year over the next decade.
- Tax and other revenue rises year after year.
- The 10-year deficit is still $3 trillion.
- The fact that Ryan's spending plans grow the federal budget over the long term is one that could easily be lost in the political melee underway in the wake of his selection as Mitt Romney's running mate.
To be sure, Ryan is proposing major changes to Medicare and taxation that Democrats see as problematic.
But claims that Ryan is slashing spending don't quite square with the numbers. Those claims are convenient Washington shorthand for what Ryan's plan actually proposes -- which is to slow the rate of budget growth, but still allow the budget to grow.
...
While claims that Ryan is slashing the budget are questionable, there are studies to back up claims that the Republicans' tax plan benefits the wealthy more than others.
Most damning part of this: Tax revenue *increases*, budget grows, deficit stays, AND the wealthy get huge tax cuts. Who is giving more to the government under the Ryan plan again? Oh right... the poor and middle class.

(128,964 posts)the "budget increase" details most likely = military only, with slash and burn for everything else because ya know, military spending doesn't count as "spending" although it is factored in as "federal spending" for deficit and debt purposes, where these albatrosses must only be blamed on "evil social programs" that they feel should be cut more.

(2,940 posts)Is Fox throwing Romney/Ryan under the bus deliberately? Do they have some backup plan, like Palin/Huckabee 2012? Are they going to instigate a coup at the convention?
Okay, I'm being a bit paranoid, but it's Fox - some paranoia is warranted.

(23,018 posts)1. Romney has never been liked by true conservatives, but is pretty unstoppable given his immense wealth and (prior) appeal to moderates.
2. Conservative powers want another Bush in office (Jeb)
3. Make it so Romney can never run again by having him thoroughly vetted and destroyed in a general election cycle and have a Democratic candidate pay for the expense
4. Focus real money on keeping House and winning Senate to prevent Obama from doing anything the next 4 years and actually make things worse.
5. Have Jeb Bush come to America's rescue in 2016.
It's not my theory, but others here have proposed it. If you are going down the path that the powerful conservatives are undermining Romney, then this is a pretty good one.

(4 posts)I still think that they all know Romney won't get the nomination which would make it an open Repugnican convention. He is totally aware of this too.
He is going to take all the punishment and abuse right up until the convention and then they will give the nomination to someone else. That way, there wont be much time for the opposition to reveal all the truths about the actual nominee.
You're not being paranoid. Your're being cautious.
