I've heard this over and over again. I know it's gotta be bullshit, but I don't know what they're twisting. Someone please inform me.

(51,474 posts)from the administration/fee side of Medicare. They believe they can achieve this savings as a result of other things happening with ACA.

(4,276 posts)The Medicare Advantage cuts are in payments to providers, NOT in the healthcare benefit services guaranteed to seniors by Medicare law. It's essentially a cut in extra corporate profits extracted from Medicare thanks to a Bush-era corporate welfare program. By reducing overpayments to vendors but maintaining benefits to seniors, the ACA cuts actually STRENGTHEN guaranteed health benefits to seniors.
In comparison, the proposed Ryan budget cuts actual benefits to seniors, while expanding corporate welfare for health insurers. Ryan would guarantee payment of a certain amount per senior to each insurance vendor, while completely removing Medicare's guarantee of actual health services for seniors.

(30,676 posts)Obama takes it out as savings from no longer subsidizing the United Healthcare supplemental insurance plan Senior Advantage, instead applying the money to Obamacare. And it's not a cut, it's a slowing down of spending over 10 years designed to lower the cost of health care to all.
Ryan takes out the $700B from Medicare and gives it as a tax cut to millionaires. Hands seniors a voucher to pay for healthcare, which will be inadequate and is designed to shrink every year you get older.
Why they have the GALL to accuse Obama of stealing from Medicare when THEY in fact are the ones stealing..well it's just unbelievable.

(47,603 posts)When Democrats try to cut spending and waste, they call it "stealing".
Obama administration has made it quite clear that there are NO cuts to benefits. I think the Romney campaign is trying to deflect criticism of their stand on Medicare by making it look like Obama is the bad guy.
