Obama death threat: cat impaled, burned alive next to Obama campaign signAuthorities are investigating a possible threat to President Obama after a burned cat was found staked to a tree stump using an American flag, next to a Obama 2012 campaign sign.
Longfellow Park, the site of the incident, is located in southern Minneapolis. The park is also used as a polling area. Minnesota primary elections are being held Tuesday, August 14, 2012. It is not known if the display has anything to do with the local election.
The display drew the attention of law enforcement agencies from all over the Minnesota area, including Homeland Security, The FBI and The Secret Service who investigate every threat made against the president no matter how benign.
Agencies report there are no immediate leads, and the closest security camera was at least a half a mile away from the incident.

(10,602 posts)The GOP hate machine is cranking up as well. You can hear the hate and bitter anger in Romney's voice at every appearance if you listen carefully enough.

(24,774 posts)Not only are the perps who killed this innocent kitty terrorist, but also the right-wing hate radio shock jocks.
Personally, I think we should make an exception to the normal rule of due process when it comes to the likes of Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, and the other right-wing radio terrorists. Where are the guillotines when we really need them?

(67,112 posts)The last two paragraphs are pretty intense ... let's hope we don't go there.
We will either meet this together, or perish. Those of the Alt-Right movement know that dark days lie ahead, but they were predicted over twenty years ago by William Strauss and Neil Howe, who wrote the book Generations (1991). They called the Crisis as beginning at or around 2005 with an economic downturn (the 2008 Global Economic Crisis), much like we saw in the 1930s. The only difference is, it looks like we'll have intense civil strife and a collapsing entitlement system to go along with it. Interesting times are here to stay."

(18,124 posts)never left, just went underground to rise at the specter of an African-American male as leader of the, still, most powerful country in the world. May they show themselves in the light, so that we can see these cowards. Never happen, they live by day in swamps and under rocks in sewage plants. gathering sustenance for their nightly forays. Their god is the devil. May they one day be brought down low and purged from society.

It was written off, but was obvious political terrorism. This was done in the 1930's in Germany and it will be done here more often.
Are you reading, Agent Mike?

(28,158 posts)The same thing. Scaring people from expressing their political feelings should not be ignored. It's terrorism. Be it a family pet which vanished, and a neighbor who says, maybe it was 'cause of that sign ya had in your yard," or worse. Like the horrific incident you mention.
More often than not these things are either ignore, or forgotten after the fact, by authorities.
I know this too well.

(28,158 posts)Which they are, going by the personal accounts I keep hearing.
For every one which makes it to the public eye, albeit briefly, there are dozens more similar personal incidents.
For example, this one wouldn't have been picked up by the media if not for the direct link to the president.
This type of action needs to be taken more seriously. Or so I believe.

(18,124 posts)It took an AA president to bring all this hate out. All I can do is sit here and shake my head at the only reason all this RACIST hate is being openly shown. An African-American male is President. Well no matter what these people do, this country is changed forever and these people better get used to it. I will NEVER accept any person as superior to another, no matter how much money or the pigment or lack of pigment in their skin.
