The House Budget Committee, chaired by Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), has told a veterans' group it is studying a plan to save $6 billion annually in VA health care costs by cancelling enrollment of any veteran who doesn't have a service-related medical condition and is not poor.
Committee Republicans, searching for ways to curb federal deficits and rein in galloping VA costs, are targeting 1.3 million veterans who claim priority group 7 or 8 status and have access to VA care.

(27,581 posts)Republicans cut veterans' benefits. Obama has at least partially restored VA funding that GWB cut.

(904 posts)He always recieved his health care from the VA and recieved excellent services especally when he became ill in '98. When he got sick in '02, we were not prepared for the horrors the VA had become. Their was insufficient staffing, shortages of specialists and overall poor care. There is no doubt in my mind the poor care he recieved contributed to his overall failing health and ultimate death. We complained to everyone we could think of, but never got anywhere. I can't even begin to describe the horror my family faced. Shame on republicans for reneging on the promises made to veterans that this country would take care of them!

That will not only put RR out of business, but the Republicans who are complicit in this farce to enrich themslves will also be thrown out and sent to mental facilities for a thorough examination and institionalized until deemed safe for public society (which they will never be)
