GOP author of the amendment that pushed Trumpcare through the House faces the music

Rep. Tom MacArthur was the only New Jersey Republican in the House to vote for both Trumpcare and the tax bill. For those reasons, he is in a very tight race right now against Democrat Andy Kim. That made a recent telephone town hall he did with 1,200 AARP members challenging for him.

He's also in trouble because of his vote for the tax bill that caps the deduction on state and local taxes (SALT) at $10,000. That hurts a lot of voters in New Jersey and New York, as well as California, because of the state and local taxes they pay.

The Repugnant Party robs from the poor, the sick, the elderly, and the entire middle class in order to pay the ultra rich to use their power to keep the Repugs in power. 3. The cap on deductions for real estate tax in NJ should finish him.

Before I moved to NC 2+ years ago, where my taxes are $1,500, the taxes on my similar home in northern NJ were $16,000. That means I would have lost $6,000 in deductions plus the deduction for NJ state income taxes on my federal return.

People in NJ might not realize it fully yet, but come next April a lot of them are going to get one hellova surprise when their accountants present them with huge bills for taxes owed, especially since withholding did not go up to compensate for the loss of the deductions.
