Musician Jimmy Buffett will play a "short" solo acoustic set at the Meyer Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach on Saturday to support Democratic gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum and Sen. Bill Nelson.

The event is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Saturday at the downtown venue as part of a get out the vote rally for the Democrats three days before the general election.

According to a news release from the Florida Democratic Party, the event is free and open to the public.

I think he’s a victim of the whole “He’s Southern so he’s got to be a jerk” attitude. He’s done some really fine work to help people. And he’s made a buck or two too.

I like him. Not a big parrothead but I’ve seen him in concert, his music makes me smile, and we come from the same town so I’m proud of the homeboy. 😄
