Most Delicious Notion of 2018:
If Donald Trumps GOP loses control of the House, the new chairperson of the powerful Financial Services Committee (with its subpoena powers and oversight authority to examine Trump family financial wrongdoing) is likely to be:
Maxine Waters.

(7,768 posts)Keep your eye on these people and their respective committees:
Rep. Adam Schiff (D-28th-CA) Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee
Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-10th-NY) Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee
Rep. Maxine Waters (D-43rd-CA) Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee
They are going to be VERY busy, dedicated and motivated Representatives doing their jobs and upholding the oath to which they raised their hand and swore to.
They're gonna need freakin' wheelbarrows to carry the subpoenas coming out of their committee rooms!
I am literally counting the days!
Speaking of paying money, I'd pay serious coin to watch Adam Schiff say to Devin Nunes (Traitor-CA-22), "Give me my gavel, asshole."

I'm hoping Bob Mueller has a microscope up Devin's Putin-loving ass!

Most can remember back before traditional conservatives were purged from the Republican congress, of course, and replaced with the corrupt right wing extremists and unprincipled opportunists they have to work with now. Even so, though the MSM don't report it, Repubs and Dems have been working together all along to pass legislation they can agree on, and they will have to maintain working relationships.
I do wonder how much of the immense and extremely widespread corruption we can take on at once and at this time. Our opponents outside government, including media and business, have enormous power and will not be voted "out" at all. They will continue affecting events. Not incidentally, how much investigation will a very divided electorate support, instead of being overwhelmed and deciding to believe claims that it's all Democratic corruption and misuse of power?

(7,768 posts)and huddle together to come up with their "game plan" to avoid what you rightly point out, overwhelming the electorate.
But I agree we're in uncharted waters here with unprecedented corruption to investigate! It's mind-blowing.
These people are all professional and "wicked smart". God speed you guys and gals! Roll up your sleeves and get to it!

(58,785 posts)when power's fairly balanced, if conservatives declare war liberals pound them every time. Strong conservative ways of thinking, or just reacting, in government create incompetence. Stealing for the wealthy And in a liberal democracy, we hold the principled high ground, which still has the law at its core.
Our people must be so excited and eager to start, but also grimly aware of the enormous battles raging and ahead. Not just the WH and Republican caucuses, but much of the national media, most business, and most of those belonging to the new ultrawealthy classes are going to be fighting the Democratic Party for every inch, supported by half the electorate. And Russia.
God! What an amazing job to have. Will they even know just how much power they'll have to work with by the end of Wednesday? Or could it drag out for weeks?

(15,325 posts)One person per legislator and making Paul Ryan share a broom closet with the house janitorial staff.
Going thru resumes and removing any staff that has even googled the Federalist Society would also be a good start.
Retrumplicans must face some punitive measures.
