A white woman who was filmed harassing two black sisters outside of an apartment complex in North Carolina last month has reportedly turned herself over to the police to face charges stemming from the incident.
Susan Westwood, widely dubbed South Park Susan, was booked by the Sunset Beach Police Department on Saturday on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant for misuse of the 911 system and four criminal summons, local station WCNC reported.
She was transferred to the Brunswick County Sheriffs Department, NBC News reported, and later released. The sheriffs department did not immediately respond to HuffPosts requests for comment.
Susan Westwood, 51, turned herself into the Sunset Beach Police Department on Saturday after being wanted on charges related to the Oct. 19 incident.
The 51-year-olds arrest follows her harassment of sisters Leisa Garris and Chele Garris in a parking lot in Charlottes South Park neighborhood as they waited for assistance from AAA on Oct. 19.
Is your boyfriend here, is your baby daddy here? Nobody cares. Im white and Im hot, the woman is heard telling the two sisters. Im still gonna make $125,000. Who are you?
Westwood was also heard claiming to have a concealed carry permit and threatening to bring out her weapon.
One woman in the background of the recording remarked that Westwood smelled of alcohol.

Sunset Beach is a lot whiter than Charlotte.

(128,905 posts)and apparently she literally FLED there. Sunset Beach is on the ocean and Charlotte is well inland - literally about 192 miles away.
I expect that she may have had a beach house there or family or friends with a house there (or perhaps stayed at a small hotel) so that she could get out of dodge once that video went viral and warrants were put out for her arrest. Thing is, I would have expected that area was impacted by Hurricane Florence.... but looking at some chaser video, Sunset Beach appears to have made out well in terms of flood and/or wind damage compared to other places further north.

(128,905 posts)There are folks that are trying to break in. Theyre trying to get in the apartments. Westwood told police, according to the station. They are actually people that Ive never seen here before ― but they are African American.
Attorney Michael Phillips, who has been hired to represent the Garris sisters, told WBTV that he has been in contact with the apartment complex and its management has agreed to evict Westwood.
Westwood has also been fired from her job at Charter Communications. The incident recorded in Charlotte is a blatant violation of Charters code of conduct and clearly disregards the companys commitment to inclusion and respectful behavior, the company said. As such, Ms. Westwoods employment with the company has been terminated, effective immediately.

So she had arrogantly called the cops to lie about "African Americans" trying to "break in". It's almost always the default bullshit assertion (outside of an attempted rape) and sadly over the years, it was always believed, and innocent peoples' lives were upended as the police swarmed neighborhoods and targeted black people who they thought "fit the (fictional) description".

Trying to sic the authorities on her victims by falsely reporting an attempted break-in is particularly vicious and egregious, and apparently it's very common in these malicious incidents. Hope municipalities that weren't are starting to adopt a zero tolerance position on that.
