Joint Chiefs chair says soldiers will not be involved in denying border entry to migrants

Washington (CNN)Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Joseph Dunford said Monday that the US military will not be "involved in the actual mission of denying people entry to the United States."

When asked about the border mission for active-duty troops, Dunford said the military will not be coming into contact with migrants traveling toward the border.

"There is no plan for US military forces to be involved in the actual mission of denying people entry to the United States," Dunford said, speaking at an event at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. "There is no plan for soldiers to come in contact with immigrants or to reinforce Department of Homeland Security as they're conducting their mission."

"We are providing enabling capabilities," Dunford said, explaining they were tasked with supporting the DHS.

Trump must feel so deflated right now.

Gen. Dunford is an honorable man, who has served our country for four decades, including combat service in three conflicts. Along the way, he was named to multiple highly demanding assignments, including Commandant of the Corps and Chairman of the JCS, in both cases by President Obama. The US military will not follow unlawful orders.

He had to feed his cult followers so he used the military to try and show he is a "tough guy". All it really shows is he is willing to use the military for political reasons, even if it costs millions of dollars all for show. This draft dogger is unfit to be in office, period, and we start the process tomorrow by vote out as many of his minions in congress as we can. His turn will come and he too will be removed. VOTE!

5 of the 39 units deployed to the border are public affairs units - public relations officers, photographers, media support staff. In less than a week, the Defense Department has posted more than 420 photos and videos of "Operation Faithful Patriot."

Donald Trump’s Tough Talk About The Border Deployment Doesn’t Match What’s Really Taking Place

“He creates this word picture for people that these troops are going to be hurling back invaders at the border. That’s just not the case.”
